1. Problem List
1. Getting up and down to get tools when working on a car
Its annoying to get up and down when your under a car working to get to your big toolbox. I work on a lot of cars and it uses a lot of time and also hurts my back. Not very many solutions, only one is to take single tools with you but they get kicked all over
2. Trying to figure out the sizes of bolts by testing a bunch of sockets
My dad and his coworkers say this is a problem. Having to guess socket sizes, and if it is even slightly off you can strip the nut or bolt and not be able to screw it off. Solution is a bolt size tester which is not made to test bolts actually on a car, but ones that are already off.
3. Lifting up tires to put on car
My freiend who is a mechanic has trouble lifting large tires off buses, and older people have triouble lifting a flat off of there normal car.
4. GPS falls down
When you're driving and hit a bump in the road, most GPS holders can only take so much. They either fall from where you placed them or the GPS pops out. There are may different mounts, but most experience this problem.
5. Ice cream melts down hand
On A hot day, you rice cream can melt a lot faster than you can eat without getting brain freeze which can lead to a sticky mess all over your hands that can then lead to getting on your clothes. We need something that can easily catch the drippings and keep them from getting everywhere.
6. Loosing a sock in a pair
When doing laundry it is very easy to misplace just on pair of a sock, then the other one is basically useless.
2. Decision matrix
3. Problem Statement
Based on that one of out of every five injuries reported by mechanics in 2005 was some form of repetitive trauma injury, shows that mechanics getting up and down all the time to get tools is a major source of injury.
4.Justification by three reliable sources
5. Potential market survey

6. Summary
For part A we first started by brainstorming 6 problems we thought would make good projects. It was hard to think of problems that have never been solved before. After we thought of the six problems we made a decision matrix. It was hard to decide on the best problem to tackle, but mechanics getting long term injuries from getting up and down all the time is a very common issue that not a lot of people think can be fixed. We then made a problem statement describing the issue while backing it up with facts. After that we searched for sources for our justification. Finding mechanic work related injuries was easier than we thought, and one of the main problems were knee and back injuries from having to get up and down off the ground all the time to grab tools. Finally we made a potential market survey to help us see the target audience while also having questions to help show it was a real problem. Over 90% percent of 217 people said yes to the question "Do you think mechanics obtain long term injuries from getting up and down all the time?" This shows that our issue is real for almost every mechanic. Even professional to just a backyard mechanic. The survey also shows our target audience is mainly 51-64 year old males.
